Balloon Wreath

So I saw this on Pinterest, which is just crazy addicting in case anyone is thinking about joining. I am limiting my time on there because I see TOO many great things I want to do and I just can't find the time to do them all! But I saw a balloon wreath and thought how cute and simple and I want to do that!

So I bought two packages of water balloons, stick pins and a styrofoam wreath. Well, four nights of working on it and 800 water balloons later, I got it done. I was hating life in the middle of it and wanted to quit, but I knew it could be so cute, so I forged ahead.

If I did it again, I might use bigger balloons or a surface I could spray with adhesive and just throw the balloons on! Ha!

Kindergarten Already?

I haven't been able to post pictures on this blog and it aggravated me, so I haven't posted anything in a while. But Jackson started kindergarten two weeks ago. He has Mrs. Graves as his teacher and they're in a portable building due to overcrowding at the school. He loves it all so far and is doing just great. He loves Mrs. Graves too.

I walked him into the building for the first week, not that he wanted me to. He ran ahead of me most of the time, and not because he's outgrown me or is embarassed, because he still would hug me and give me a kiss before I would leave, but he was just THAT ready! So now I drop him off in the car line and he makes his way all by himself to the gym. Unbelievable that he's so grown up.

My Poor Neglected Blog

(Still working on getting this header centered, but I'm tired and turning in for the night. )

It's true, since I've been on Facebook and I post pictures there, I have truly let this blog fall to the wayside. But then I remember the reason I started it in the first place, so that Jackson will have a little diary of sorts about the goings-on in his life. And while I've missed big chunks of that kind of stuff, I'll try to make up for it now with some pictures.

Since I last posted we have gone on vacation in Destin, Jackson lost his second tooth, we made a trip to Kennett and Jasper, and summer has almost come and gone without us knowing it! Jackson starts school August 1st (eek) and I could just throw up over it.

So I'm just going to post these pictures from earliest on. These first pics are when we were in Jasper this past weekend. We went to Patoka Lake for the day and then spent time with Papaw and Mamaw at their house.

This is a sign I made for my friend's baby shower. I wish I had more time to devote to this kind of stuff. I really enjoy it.

Two More Days!

I cannot wait until we go on vacation! I am so ready to see the ocean, the sand! I haven't updated here in a while, but there really hasn't been a lot going on with us...or actually there's been a lot of things going on but just nothing really noteworthy and important enough to comment on!

Jackson is of course growing way too fast for my liking. He is going to preschool every day and will start kindergarten in August. That just makes my stomach hurt to think about it. He's going to have a great summer! He's looking forward to the beach, but mainly because of a cool waterpark we'll be going to.

This was the Father's Day card we got for Tom. I was attempting to make him a sign from Jackson with all kinds of cute things on it that they do together, but they just weren't turning out right and I ran out of time! So he got a sad little t-shirt. :(

The Mount Juliet Heat was a team that Jackson played on outside of his "real" soccer team. This team was for a tournament of some sort and it was three on three instead of like seven or eight kids on the field. The rules were a bit different, but Jackson caught on and loved every minute of it! This happened a couple of weekends ago when it was blazing hot, but he didn't complain at all about it. He really enjoys playing soccer and we'll be back doing it in the fall!

I know this was a quick post with a smattering of info, but I hope to have more things to post when we get back from vacay! Here's where I'll be real soon.....

Subway Art - Yes, I Made One Too

I have been coveting everyone else's subway art online in etsy stores and blogs for some time now, and always felt I could make one! I finally did it! I love the finished product and I cannot wait to make some more. This is 12 by 24, I think. I'm going to try black lettering with white background too. I have so many ideas that can be done, it's kind of overwhelming. That's usually when I quit doing things because I can't stand all the stress that being creative gives me! :)

I Heart Faces - May Flowers

This week's challenge on I Heart Faces (a photography website) is MAY FLOWERS. And while I am NO green thumb at all, I do plant something in our pots once a year and enjoy them until they die a slow, agonizing death due to neglect. :( Anyway, I really love the sweet potato vines and I am pretty sure the purple flowers are just pansies.

Mother's Day 2011

This weekend was Mother's Day weekend, plus it was Tom's 40th birthday on Friday! So lots to celebrate. We had a get-together on Saturday evening with some friends for Tom's birthday and then a very low-key day yesterday for Mother's Day. Of course I did insist upon a photo shoot, which went pretty well. I did bribe Jackson with Marble Slab ice cream, but I say whatever works, use it!

Tom got me a clicker thingy so we could take pictures via remote control. So I set the tripod up, got the settings like I wanted, and we were able to take some family pictures! Pretty cool. Jackson loved the clicker thingy.

Random side note, this is the semi-finished chair I've worked here and there on. I hope to finish it within the week and move on to something else! But you get the idea of the finished product from this picture...

We've been staying busy with work, soccer, beginning of summer things. I am hoping to get someone in here to paint the living room within the month. Then after that, I'm wanting to start pricing granite countertops. It's always something!
